“Mom! I’m bored! I don’t know what to do!” We’ve all heard his more than once. What can you do when your kids can’t go play outside because it’s raining again?

Here are nine fun activities that your little ones will surely enjoy!

Coloring

Yes, the classic coloring book. If you don’t have any on hand, you can always find some coloring pages on the internet that you can print out. Add an exciting twist in it for your kids by supplying them with “special” crayons. Multicolored, different shapes, different types. You can even have a stash of these put aside especially for rainy days.

Board games

There are many board games adapted for kids of all ages. From Monopoly to Jenga, you’ll surely find something that will entertain your kids.

Blanket Fort

When I was I kid, I loved when my parents would make a blanket fort in the living room!. There was just this feeling of coziness to it! You can put some pillows in there and bring a lamp or flashlight and your kids’ imagination will do the rest.

Drawing

There’s always the traditional white sheet of paper and crayons, but why not put a new twist in it? My mom used to draw a few shapes and lines and my job was to complete the drawing. A small circle and a diagonal line would end up being a fish and so on. It took drawing to a whole new dimension!

Legos

Legos are a must. Either building the model on the box or having a Lego contest, there are hours of fun to be had!

Painting

Painting can be a mess, but put an old plastic tablecloth on the table with some old plastic cups filled with water. Watercolor or gouache is easy to clean, and your kids can paint with brushes, fingers, sponges and so many other things. They can use tree leaves, put some paint on them and use them as stamps. They can do the same with lemons cut in half and any other thing that can leave an imprint.

Dot to dot

Dot to dot was my passion as a kid! I would go through a 300 pages book of dot to dot in an afternoon. There are tons of dot to dot printable sheets on the internet. It’s fun, and it helps your kids with their numbers!

Origami

There are many tutorials on how to do origami. All you need is paper, scissors and sometimes glue. It’s always more interesting with colored paper.

Baking cookies or cupcakes

Whip up a batch of their favorite cookies or cupcakes and have them help you! Have them mix the ingredients. Give them a few cookie cutters in fun different shapes. After they’re baked, ask them to decorate them. They’ll have a blast eating them!

With these activities in store, your kids will be looking forward to rainy days!
